Notables Affected by Aortic Dissection:

Several celebrities have unfortunately been affected by aortic dissections. They have fought hard to inform the general public about this disease, and we hope to continue their efforts.

John Ritter: Emmy and Golden Globe award winning actor, best known for his role in Three's Company, who passed from an aortic dissection caused by an undiagnosed thoracic aortic aneurysm.

Lucille Ball: Iconic American comedienne and actress who starred in I Love Lucy. She suffered a dissecting aortic aneurysm before her aorta ruptured in a second location.

Richard Biggs: American actor best known for his roles in Days of Our Lives and Babylon 5, who passed from an aortic dissection.

Flo Hyman: professional volleyball player and Olympic silver medalist who passed from an aortic dissection. She was previously undiagnosed with Marfan Syndrome.

King George II: king of Great Britain until 1760. He is the first documented case of an aortic dissection.

Dr. Michael E. DeBakey: physician who devised the surgery to correct, among many other vascular diseases, aortic dissection. He suffered an aortic dissection at the age of 97, and survived his own surgery.

Daniel Dennett: American philosopher who survived a dissection in 2006. He wrote about his experience online.
